Good cycling tours fill up weeks ahead and the great ones go first. Below: the 15 to book early, what each includes and how they differ.
Ride from the Vienna State Opera around the Ringstraße, Hofburg, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Hundertwasserhaus, the Donau Canal, Stadtpark, and Karlskirche. English, German, and Dutch guides lead a mostly flat route on bike paths and quieter roads.

Leave Vienna by train for Krems, then cycle about 25 kilometers along the Danube through vineyards and villages. Your guide leads tastings at two wineries, with time for Dürnstein, a castle-ruins hike, lunch, and perhaps a swim. Standard bikes are included, but electric bikes are not provided.

Spend 11 hours cycling the Wachau Valley from Vienna, with train travel, bike rental, two winery visits, and time in Dürnstein. Guides such as Tim, Nicolas, and Szana add lively history and wine insight. The route is about 25 kilometers, mostly easy riding with stops.

Ride Vienna’s flat, well-surfaced cycle routes with an English-speaking guide such as Lisa, Marco, Jan, or Horst. Over three hours, you’ll cover the Ringstrasse, Heroes’ Square, Hundertwasserhaus, Karlskirche, Prater, and the Danube Canal, with regular photo stops and rain ponchos if needed.
“This is an excellent way to spend an afternoon in Vienna! Our guide was fantastic. He provided lots of great information, went at a pace that kept things interesting but safe, and was fun to talk to. We were able to choose our own bikes and a few people chose eBikes so they could keep up. It was nice that they had that option. We started a few minutes late because a few people were late, which was mildly annoying after being told to arrive 15 minutes early and actually doing so, but it was a minor glitch in an otherwise lovely afternoon. Ride a charged e-bike through Vienna’s grand center with a guide such as Winfried or Tamour. In 75 to 90 minutes, see the Opera, Hofburg, Parliament, Stephansplatz, and Belvedere, then ask about keeping the bike for further exploring.

Join a small-group mountain e-bike tour from Innsbruck with guides such as Anton or Rueban. Ride 20 to 40 kilometers on paved roads and well-kept gravel forest tracks, climb 500 to 1,000 meters, stop for photos, and possibly pause at a mountain restaurant or village.

Ride an electric bike with an English-speaking guide from central Vienna to Danube Island, Belvedere, and Prater Park. You need solid cycling skills, comfortable clothes, a passport or credit card for the deposit, and a minimum height of 160 centimeters.

Spend 5 to 7 hours riding from Gosau through alpine pastures toward Hallstatt and Gosausee. Karl or Wolfram leads a small group of up to six, with e-bike instruction, local stories, hut stops, and Austrian treats such as Kaiserschmarrn and plum pofesen.

Join guide Anton for a four-hour e-MTB ride from Innsbruck’s Markthalle through the old town, up to mountain viewpoints, past Thaur Castle, and on to Hall in Tirol. Bike rental costs extra, and you need moderate fitness for the route.

Ride a kick bike through Vienna’s 15th district and beyond with a local guide. You’ll visit Naschmarkt, MuseumsQuartier, parks, street-art spots, and local shopping streets in a group capped at 10 to 12 people. Helmets, bikes, and local taxes are included.

We chose the electric scooters, rather than the kick bikes and for us, it was much more physically easier and we covered much more ground (we are in a married couple - 55 and 65 - so that option was better for us.) We talked a lot about the history and current political issues and overall was a really great way to spend the afternoon and see the city.”
